Internet connection stops responding

Using XP Home SP2
Event Viewer list error 615.
When I run the IP Security Monitor Snap-in it gives me the following: THE
FOLLOWING ERROR OCCURRED WHILE CONTACTING THE SERVER XXXXXXXX: THE BINDING
HANDLE IS INVALID
This is a desk top not on a network.

I have exact same problem with desktop, no network, wireless connection -
email set up exactly same as on laptop where I have no problems
