Event: Failure Audit 615

I have 2 separate questions.

I am using Windows XP Home Ed, on a PC, that I alone use.
It is not connected to anyother computer, and is not for
business use.

First, I get very confused about the term, "network/
networking services". Does this refer to computers that
are hooked together, or does it refer to going on line to
the internet. If it means both, how do I know which one it
means?

Second, In my "Event Viewer" under "Security" in
the "Event Properties" box, It shows the following event:
Event Type: Failure Audit
Event Source: Security
Event Category: Policy Change
Event ID: 615
IPSec Services: IPSec Services failed to get the
complete list of network interfaces on the machine. This
can be a potential security hazard to the machine since
some of the network interfaces may not get the protection
as desired by the applied IPSec filters. Please run IPSec
monitor snap-in to further diagnose the problem.

I have no clue as to what it means, am I at risk if I go
on the internet? Is that what it's saying? And, How do I
run this IPSec monitor snap in, it doesn't tell me how to
do it.

Thanx,
Larry

Larry, same problem here. My new laptop (presario 2190us)
has a 10/100 interface adapter as well as a wireless
pcmcia adapter (netgear ma401). Everytime the event
viewer logs in this error I loose my wireless connection
(I don't know if this is the cause or effect). I can
reconect again until the process repeats in about 4
minutes or so. A couple of things:
I think this problem started when I downloaded the xp
hotfixes (security related). At one point I backed them
all out and brought them back, one-at-a-time, until I
found the one that broke it. There is still this 4
minute on/off problem though. I think specifically that
the ipsec service wants all network adapters (enabled or)
not to report. Apparently they do not (the 10/100
Mcphyter?) does not. I loaded the IP snapins to the
console and found that none of the policies are
assigined. I'm about ready to go back to the orginal
configuration and try again.
