internet connection repeatedly dropping

Hi. I'm having terrible trouble with a friend's
computer. She's running IE6 on XP Home on a Hewlett
Packard. Whenever she connects to the internet she can
only stay on about 2 mins tops before a (seeming) windows
pop up informs her she has "just ignored an incoming
call" and the line drops. It has a black and white
picture of a phone. I have *never* seen this before.
I've run through all the programmes on her machine and
checked the internet connection settings and everything
seems fine. Is there a little programme somewhere on
some versions of XP?

Needless to say she's going crazy. Any info would be
greatly appreciated.
