Internal modem

Hello everyone,

I recently purchased a Compaq Presario 2100 Laptop and
it was loaded with Windows XP Home Edition. Although I
was not having any trouble with this operating system I
decided to install "XP Professional" since that is the
system I use on my home system.
The problem that has developed is my internal 56k modem
is not working but the nework card is. No matter what I
Do the modem does not dial out. It worked perfectly on
the Home Edition but stopped working on the Pro version.
Will I have to re-format the laptops hard drive and re-
install the "Pro" system?
I did install the Pro over the Home Edition as the
recommended upgrade, where did I go wrong? HELP!

Hi,

Download and install the drivers for the modem for Windows XP Pro.
Your notebook has a Conexant modem. Check the Compaq web site for the
drivers. The drivers for XP home and Professional are the same.

Best of luck,

Prasad
