intermittent freezing

recently, after installing new OS, my computer freezes at will, it only
lasts a few seconds, but is quite annoying. When I type, it stops, and
catches up with me later, windows graphics stay on the screen, or half stay
on, and my games freeze, and then start up again. Compusa installed the os,
and spy sweeper, I installed norton2004. It never froze before these
changes. I have 512 MB of Ram. I did disk clean up, defrag, and scan disk,
still my problem persists. Any other ideas? Thank you, Virgo.

What do you mean, deleting? Do you mean disable? I have tried that, but
deleting? I paid good money for that. I was virused with Mcafee, and that
was the reason for the new OS. I get emails every day with the netsky. virus
attached. I'm worried about being virused again.

You'll be able to reload it,if you bought it(still have
the codes I hope),i had Norton,Mcafee too,I was being
infected twice a month with Norton. Now i have EZAV from
computer associates, they do most of the fortune 500
companys computers.Got it free for a year from microsofts
update page

rus.asp
It just caught js.css.E Trojan on fools day,and deleted it
(got it from a btother inlaw e-mail(he had Norton),he
still don't know he's infected,norton won't catch it till
it's there, then you'll have to do all kind of crazy
things to get it out of your system.OK enough bout
Norton, sounds like you have a program using 100% of your
processor push ctrl, alt, del button at the same
time, whats using the most cpu in the processes tab(post
the results back here),or right click on it and end
processe ok to the warning box(worst thing can happen
will be you'll have to restart your coputer,so don't be
doing anything important when you do that.Sounds like
either you have a processe like Norton running at a bad
time(you should set it to run at a time when you'll not
need to use the box, like at nite)or your vidio cards
having a time out break,My money's on you having
something running in the background you don't know
about,eatting you cpu.

I had CCPROXY.EXE running over 94,000K. I know it is part of symantec
(Norton), but I deleted it anyway. Also have 31 processes runnning at all
times. Too many? I wonder which ones I can get rid of without harming a
program that needs them?

This might show up twice, because outlook said it could not send message to
group, so I am trying again. I had CCPROXY.EXE taking over 94,000K, so I
deleted it. I think it is part of symantec,NOrton. I hope it will still run,
but yes, still have the codes if not. Also have 31 processes running all the
time. Isn't that an awful lot. Do I need all of these running?

Ok, I did what you said. I went to Task manager. there was a program
there,CCPROXY.EXE using over 94,000k. I know this is associated with Norton.
I deleted it, and then tried to reply to group, and oulook could not find
server, I then tried to get Internet Explorer, and "was unable to find
server", so I did a system restore, and when I went back to task manager,
CCPROXY was there, but using only about 4,000k. Then I went to my game, and
connected toit, and went back to task manager, and CCproxy was again using
94,000K. I exed out of the game, and it is still at high usage. there are
also 31 processes running all the time. Do I need all of these processes,
and how will I know? My typing stalls, my game stalls, and graphics when
exed out, fade away in portions. whhat is going on here?
