Interactive Format changes with text boxes

Dear All,

Although not new to PowerPoint, I haven't used it enough to find a solution
to the following problem:

I have several text boxes with text defined on a slide.

I would like to have the following events take place in this order:

1. Click on a text box on Slide 1 and play a sound
2. After the sound plays, hyperlink to Slide 17 further in the presentation
3. After viewing Slide 17, click on an action button to return to Slide 1
4. I would like the text box that I clicked on in Step 1, change Font Color

I can get any one step to work however I have struggled in vain to get the
steps to execute in the desired sequence.

Any suggestions on how to do this would be much appreciated!

Thanks,
Dave

Okay, this may sound tricky when you read it, but don't worry - it is easier
than it reads.
(To make it clearer, I am referring to your sound as Sound, your text box or
shape as TS1, your box on slide seventeen as TS17, and the extra box I am
about to suggest as TS1b)
1) Add the animation to play Sound.
2) Add a box (TS1b) to slide one. Make it the same shape as TS1, but with no
text. Place it somewhere on the slide where you can work with it.
3) Give TS1b an entrance animation of appear and an exit animation of
disappear
4) Give TS1 an emphasis animation of change font color
5) Set the animation for Sound to be triggered by the click of TS1
6) Set the entrance animation for TS1b to be triggered by the click of TS1.
Set the timing to after previous (so that it appears as soon as the sound
finishes)
7) Set TS1b to hyperlink to Slide 17 on mouse over (do this via action
settings and the mouse over tab)
8) Set the exit animation for TS1b to be triggered by the click of TS1. Set
the timing to after previous with a delay of .5 seconds (so that it exits a
half second after the return from slide 17 - this gives time for the mouse
over to work)
9) Set the emphasis animation for TS1 to be triggered by the click of TS1.
Set the timing to with previous (so that it changes after the return from
slide 17, and at the same time as disappearance of TS1b)
10) Set TS1b to have a 99% transparent fill and no line.
11) Move TS1b so that it is on top of TS1
12) On slide 17, add a shape (TS17) and give it a hyperlink back to slide 1
(on click)

Play Slide 1. Click TS1 and don't move your mouse. Your sound will play.
When it is done, you will go to Slide to 17. When you are done with 17,
click TS17 and you will return to Slide 1. As you return, your text will
change colors.

(Now, by the time this posts, someone will have come up with a better way to
explain this, but it was worth the time anyway. If you want to see an
example with three very simple slides, let me know by unknotting my address.

Kathy,

Thanks for the suggestion, the only part I am unsure of is Step 7. Seeing I
have several text boxes together (resembles a spreadsheet)., what will happen
when I want to select say the third text box in the third row and I MouseOver
the other text boxes beofre I get to the desired text box?

That shape will only be there right after you play the sound. Your
animations bring it in when the sound is finished and take back out when you
return to the slide. Same would go for any other square in your set up.

Does that help clear it up any?
