Hi,
I have an MS Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 (optical with 5 buttons and scroll
wheel, USB) and I am running Win XP Pro on a Dell SmartStep (SmartPC) 250N
(Its a notebook).
I got this mouse a few weeks after getting my laptop and for the first 3/4
months it worked without any problems, then one day - I plug it in and it
isnt detected at all (nothing in device manager etc..as if I hadnt plugged
it in).
I tried the mouse on another couple of computers and it woked perfectly
well - tried other USB devices in my notebook and they all work as well
(Printer, Sidewinder Joypad, Bluetooth adaptor, even another MS standard
optical mouse)
Next I fitted the PS2 adaptor (Supplied with the mouse) and plugged it in to
the notebook - and it work perfectly.
In short, it's definately something in WinXP thats causing the problem, I
have tried reinstalling and updating drivers and software till I'm blue in
the face!! - and no, I dont want to reinstall Windows, far too much stuff to
backup and reinstall just to fix a mouse.
Any Ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Paul Adam
