Mouse sometimes not found after boot.

PC: Notebook (X500 type I believe)

O/S: Windows XP Pro.

Mouse: Optical, USB.

Problem:

When not operating in the field, I use an external USB keyboard &
external USB mouse. Sometimes after a boot, the USB mouse has not been
detected. Sometimes I have to reboot 2 or 3 times until I get it
found. I have tried another (newer) mouse - same problem.

Can I invalidate the non working mouse and get the system to reexamine
the usb port to try & get the mouse recognised?

Thanks,

Kim.

Have you tried not rebooting but just unplugging the mouse waiting a few
seconds and replugging the mouse in? I have a similar problem with one of my
MP3 players and un/replugging works without a reboot.

Good luck, Rich
