Strange Mouse Scrolling in Explorer

N

Norm Dresner

I have a Microsoft Intellimouse Optical 1.1A connected to three computers
through a KVM switch. Two of the computers are running WinXP with SP2 and
the latest updates. The third computer is running Win2K with the most
recent updates. All computers have Microsoft Intellimouse v6 software
installed.

On _only one_ of the WinXP computers _only_ in Windows Explorer the mouse
button doesn't work for vertical scrolling. It functions perfectly in all
other programs I've tried on that computer and in every program on the other
two computers.

I've examined every setting in Windows Explorer's options and there appears
to be nothing related to a mouse in them. I've looked at every other
configuration thing I could find and there's nothing that would seem to
relate specifically to vertical scrolling controlled by the mouse button
only in Explorer.

I'm baffled and hoping that someone recognizes these symptoms and can
suggest a cure -- or a way to find one.

Thanks
Norm

Read the details on the KVM switch. If the manufacturer states that
the KVM will support the vertical scroll, the KVM may only give
"limited" fucntionality and un-perdictable results. Most KVMs do not
offer the vertical scroll.

Vertical scrolling has worked perfectly through the KVM for several years on
the older WinXP and the Win2K computers. It also works perfectly on the new
WinXP in every program but Windows Explorer. I don't think the KVM is the
problem
