Can anyone give me step by step intructions , including registry
settings, for uninstalling and then reloading IE6. I am using 98ME.

Why don't you try REPAIR?

Add/Remove Programs, highlight Microsoft Internet Explorer, click Add/Remove and select "Repair".

Click OK and reboot when asked to.

First, try IEFix: http://www.mvps.org/sramesh2k/IEFIX.htm

Or, try the manual procedure below:

First, try reinstalling from the INF files.
Click Start/Run/Type "rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection
DefaultInstall 132 %windir%\inf\ie.inf"
This fixes most problems. If not, see below:

Reinstall or Repair Internet Explorer and Outlook Express in Windows XP:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=318378

[As stated, set the registry key "IsInstalled" to 0. If not, you may be
unable to reinstall IE/OE]
Unable to Install Internet Explorer 6 on Windows XP:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=304872

General Advisory: Double-check if you have changed the correct registry key.
Because, there are several similar keys in that location. Visit MVP Kelly
Theriot's page and download the fix named "Enable reinstallation of internet
explorer". This fix changes the IsInstalled flag automatically.

Restart Windows and start Internet Explorer setup again.

Hope this helps.

Did you start directly with IE6 or did you once have IE5.5 on your system?
If the latter, then try rolling back to IE5.5. If it is possible to do that,
then maybe you can reinstall IE6 afterwards.

To roll back, to Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs and select Microsoft
Internet Explorer then click on the Remove button. If the system allows you
to, then there should be an option made available that allows you to roll
back to IE5.5

Good luck,
Martin

IE5 has beeen removed previously.

Go to Download.com....look for Internet Browsers. Reinstall IE6.0 w/sp1. Restart your computer. If your IE 6.0 files are corrupted, it should allow you to reinstall it with no hitches....the install is simple...no changes, just click yes or next....

Looks like you should start a new thread with a better description
of your symptoms. The Subject of this one seems to be resolved.
