installshield problem

Hi All!!
I have a quick question...I bought a new computer and
reformatted the hard drive so that I have XP pro on the
new computer. I have updated everything on the computer
and tried to download my wireless card soft ware. In the
process of doing that...I got a message "Installation of
Belkin wireless desktop card was interrupted before it's
completion." I have talked to the Belkin tech support and
they couldn't help me out. Anyone has any solution to
this?? Do I have to down load a newer version of the
installshield??? Any advice would be great. Thanks in
advance for your help!!!!

Windows XP (Sp1a) has all the functionality you need to setup
a Wireless connection. Really all you need are the drivers for
the hardware. The Belkin software is a just a layer that works
through to the actual XP code. It's supposed to make using the
product easier, but it doesn't always work out that way. If you
can get the drivers installed, use the Network Wizard in XP to
setup your Wireless network. Be sure to use WEP and to not
broadcast your SSID. ( So your neighbors can't piggyback to
your network).

Thanks for the info. The problem is that I can't install
the software (Driver) that Belkin has provided me. I am
not sure what the problem is. Installshield wizard will
do its setup, and at the end, it tells me that the
installation was interrupted and the set up was not
completed and that I can reinstall at a later time. I
have tired to reinstall quite a few times, and nothing
worked. So, the question is...am I missing something on
my computer??? This software has worked on my old
computer and now is not working. I don't think it's the
Belkin software. I think I am missing something
(program, file, etc) that will interrupt my installation
process. Any quess what I can be missing????

Go to Add/Remove programs in Control Panel. Scroll
through the list and any Belkin entries related to your
driver/interface program Uninstall. This could also be a
case where you should download the Windows Installer
Cleanup Utility. It can remove errant installer software
that may still exist even after a Add/Remove is done.
A technote on what it does and the download is found@

After removing/cleanup - Reboot and retry the install.

Explore the Belkin disk for a file with an .inf extension: choosing one
from a Windows XP folder if there are several folders to choose from.
Now go to Add/Hardware, say you do *not* want to let it search, and when
it comes to a list of types of device use 'All Devices'. There click
Have disk and browse to the file you found. Select it and it should
install the drivers. Possibly showing more than one device it deals in,
in which case you have to make a judgment over choosing
