I have windows 98, if I want to upgrade to windows xp will all my working
files be deleted? I have a lot of work stored on my hard-drive, documents,
databases, etc. I don't want to copy to a floppy if I don't have to, but I
don't want to lose any thing.
Will I be taking a chance on losing information?

Thanks,

Done correctly, an upgrade from Windows 98 to Windows XP doesn't have
anything to do with your own files (documents, spreadsheets, pictures, etc.
basically everything in the My Documents folder). Nonetheless, the first
rule of upgrading an operating system is: backup.
