Installing XP Pro - Black Blank Screen System Stops Responding

I have a system that has XP Home installed. When I turned the computer on it
just shows a black blank screen. And just locks up. After I restarted the
computer after it locked up it asked me if I wanted to go to Safe Mode, Last
known Good, etc... I tried them all but nothing still worked.

I thought that the harddrive died and put another drive in that had win98.
I then put the cd in after I restarted the computer and pressed the spacebar
to access the cd-rom. It went through its normal stuff like loading drivers,
F2 for ASR, F6 for Raid, and etc. After that it went to another screen and
said something like starting windows setup. But it just stays at that screen
and locks up and stops responding. I tried that again and it did the same
thing. So, I figured that I would just try something different. I restarted
the system and went back to Win98 and put the cd in and tried setup from
there. Selected Advanced - Clean install. It started it thing and went to
gathering information about the system and proceded to restart the system
where once again it went to a black blank screen and stopped responding. So,
I selected Upgrade. Well once again same thing! I checked the bios and
everything appears to be fine.

Anymore suggestions would be VERY helpful! Thanks......Trinity

I tried installing xp on the 2nd drive, it copies files to the harddrive, and
when the computer restarts the screen goes black just like the 1st harddrive.
I will give it a try.

Try removing all peripherals except the video, floppy, CD and mouse.
If that doesn't work, reseat all hardware and cables and boot from CD.
