Installing Windows XP Pro Sp1...

HI, I'm installing windows Xp SP1 on a computer Pentium
MMX 266 with 392 ram memory and a Quantum HD of 8 Gb...
During the process while the windows XP setup is loading
the files for hardware abstraction layer, I receive a
error "file \i386\hal.dll coulf not be loaded. error
43520" and forces me to quit the setup and restart the
machine. I've alreaady checked the hard disk through the
fdisk utility of the windows 98' and made a new partition
after deleting the existing one.
Ok, I tried to install windows 98', but during the
format process I've been asked for the Windows 98'
installation disk while it is already in the cd-rom. I
had changed the bios devices order several times but I
still can not get through the installation process...

Thanks for any help
..

The system you are attempting to install XP on is way below the minimum XP
requirments. The hard drive space is adequate, but on the low side for an
efficent system. The CPU is below the minimum and in my opinion not worth
spending any amount towards an upgrade or clean version of Home or Pro. The
whole system can be replaced with close to a state of the art system for the
same expense you would need to replace the hardware and software to make an
obsolete system perform like an obsolete sysatem with XP.
