Installing Windows Installer

P

Paul

When trying to install or un-install software i get the
following error:

"The windows installer services caould not be acceesd.
This can occur if you are running Windows in safe mode,
or if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed.
Contact your support personnel for assitance"

I am not running in safe mode and I have started the
windows installer service manually (in the ctrl pannel,
admin tools, services). I have also set the service to
automatic.

How do I re-install the windows installer??

BTW I am operating Win XP pro, SP2

TIA

Paul

Sorry, but none of the two methods work!!

In method 1, msiexec.exe cant be found in the location it
should be in... The method does not say what should be
done in this case... I thus assumed i must try method 2

In method 2, I followed the instuctions but got errors
when going to step 4:
ren msi.dll msi.old
ren msiexec.exe msiexec.old
ren msihnd.dll msihnd.old

Since these files are NOT found on my machine...

So what should i do?

TIA

Paul
