I go online with a user account as recommended and when I get virus updates
from McAfee they it says you must be an administrator of the account to
install the update. I have written them for help and they ignore me. I have
tried setting permissions and it didn't work. i have tried temporarily making
the user account an administrator account. It doesn't work. could someone
tell me the proper way to deal with this problem? Thanks jac

Is your computer networked or is it standalone?

You need to log on as Administrator.

Hope this helps.

Logon to your computer as a user with admin priviledges - it's not an McAfee
issue.

ok. I log on with my administrator account. The new definitions install fine
in that account. How do I install them in the other limited account?

You don't need to. The antivirus program and its virus definitions are
global. It is only that you can't install the definitions in a Limited
account, not that the updated antivirus is inactive in a Limited
account.
