I seem to have a very unusual problem installing programs with XP home
edition. I've never had such a problem installing software on any other
version of windows but now they have this great installation wizard.
The problem is that when I put a CD with a program, including the XP
windows Disk, it wont boot, the CD rom drive( D: ) will spin but then up
comes the message " failure to initialize properly(0xc0000006)."
If I try going through control panel-add new program I get a readmemory
writememory failure and that's it.
Going through help is no better.
Going through troubleshooting only comes up with an error report window.
I can't even see whats on the disks.
I can put in a music CD or a photo CD and can use them no problem.
I have successfully downloaded the updates for windows XP and have had no
improvement in the situation.
This is a brand new computer and I have no virus's or trojan horses,
since I have not had time to accept any emails yet. The only thing I have
downloaded are the windows updates.
I have tried vaious disks from game disks to camera software to word, but
all fail to boot.
I'm either missing something obvious or something is wrong with the
setup.exe, I can't tell which.
All I can say is if this was my computer it would be a Macintosh.
