Installing Mcafee VirusScan 8 (online) updates as a non - admin user

Has anyone managed to get Mcafee VirusScan 8 (online) to install virus image
updates as a non - administrator user on Windows XP pro.?

If I am a power user, then I just get a dialog saying you need to be an
administrator. Is there a way round this, I have tried chnaging the rights
in the program directoery to no avail.

I wondered if there were any tricks with scheduled updates?

Hi!

I doubt so, as most anti-virus programs install a driver to intercept files
and scan for viruses as the drivers are 'more powerful' in a sense. In
Windows XP, you need administrative access to install a driver, so there...
