INSTALLING JAVASCRIPT

I just got a new Windows XP installed on my computer. Previously I was able
to access programs that needed Javascript, but now I cannot. When I tried to
download it I get a message that reads, "This installation package could not
be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or
contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows
Installer package."
What can I do? I need my java!!!

JAVA and JAVAscript are two different critters, with similar names. JS is
integral to the browser. JAVA must be added.
