Installing Java?`

I wonder if anyone can help??!???

Several times I have tried to install Java. I click on
the "Free Download" link from Java.com.

The installation wiz. apears, I choose what I want to
download, and then a message says Download Complete.

Yet, still I can't use any internet java applications
(such as Geocities Website Construction)...

There isn't an option to turn Java on via Internet
Options (Tools) either.

Have I missed something???

Thanks,
James.

Did you run the Installation program after you downloaded it?

Now you're talking!

Yes, I've just run the programme (Java 2 Runtime
Enviroment) - that is, gone through the process of
installing it via the link I downloaded onto my desktop.

Then 'Instalation' complete. Have I missed yet another
step? :) Thanks.

The JRE installs a "Java Plug-in" Control Panel Applet. Make sure Java is
enabled in the "Browser" tab for each of your browsers.

The problem I have at the moment is that Java isn't on
the list for me to 'enable' or otherwise, on Internet
Explorer (Tools/Internet Options/Advance)
