Problems While Installing Java

E

Eddy

Hello:

I have been trying to download and install java on my computer. After I
install the program I get a message stating Java has been installed
sucessfullly. I restart my computer. When I go to open the Java icon on
desktop It is prompting to reinstall Java all over agian. I have gone to
add and remove programs and successfully remove the program from there. But
going back to desk top the Java icon is still there and after opening it it
continues to start the installation process again. I have gone through these
steps several times and have tried Revo uninstallation software. Can someone
please tell me why this is happening? And what can I do to correct this?
Thanks Eddy.

Maybe you downloaded the install file to your desktop.
And...yes...clicking it would initiate an install.

If you want to access the Java Control Panel...go to...
Start button / Control Panel / Java

What Java "icon on desktop" ?

If it is Sun Java, it places NO icon on the Desktop. It does install a Control Panel
Applet.

Go to Control Panel --> Add/Remove Programs

Look for; "Java(TM) 6 Update 18"

It should be the only Java listed.

If it is not there go to...
http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp

Download Sun JRE v6 update 18. preferrrable the Offline version (~16MB)
