installing hp 5100 printer

When attempting to install the new printer, as the wizard
attempts to copy files from the cd I get an error message

Data is not valid

The wizard then prompts for cancellation and the
printer/drivers are not installed. This is a new printer,
but the same problem occured when I tried to install an
older hp (812c). Thanks for any/all assistance. Bill

a) Are you logged on as an Administrator or a User with Admin Rights?

b) Does the CD drive work fine with other applications?

c) Does the same problem occur when you use the Add Printer Wizard for the
812c?
