Installing AOL

I get this message when trying to install AOL from either
the web site or installation CDs: "this copy of American
online has a different language then your system you as
language. Installing may have some adverse effects on
your system." I am using Windows XP home edition and
language setting is for English US. I do not have any
problem installing any other software on this computer.
I have tried five different installation CDs and three
different versions of AOL off their web site. Their
support suggested a problem with my Windows software.
Any help would be appreciated

Hi i once had aol and i would never recommend it to
anyone. when i tried to search for things it took me to
their own aol pages the browser is like smething
especially made for kids and when i tried to cancel my
account they did everything to stop me it was a
nightmare. any of my friends who have had aol have hated
it! and have had many of the same problems
in the end i cancelled my subscription by telling them i
had sold my computer! that is the only way i could cancel
this is only my view but it is the view of an ex aol
customer

Why not try a real ISP? In the long run it will be cheaper. And you won't
have all those headaches that AOL creates so that they can sell you
something that's supposed to fix it.

Why on earth would you want to load AOL on your computer? Why not just pour
a glass of water on your CPU and not make it suffer the indignity of AOL?

Be happy! You don't want that virus on your computer.

AOL - more difficult to remove than Two Jags Prescott from an
all-you-can-eat restaurant.

I had AOL on one of my comp;uters. then I got it foxed.

Please don't waste your time or money on AOL. Despite what the AOL
commercials say. You can do everything with a real ISP that you can do on
AOL without the hidden charges and other crap.

AOL also makes changes to your system without your express permission.
Such as disabling any other Internet Connection you might have, or
disabling Windows Messanger. Though may not seem like a big deal, There
is a princle iseue you should be concerned with. What else are they doing
with out your knowledge??

AOL also uses Propreitery features. A common question we get in her is
"How to get AOL e-mail into Outlook Express?" Well, You can't. you have
to use the AOL software. AOL also has a bad habit of Blocking entire
domains to try and cut down on spam. This can be a problem if say, A
spammer gets onto Yahoo and AOL blocks ALL messges from Yahoo. You won't
get e-mail from a any friends or family that use Yahho for E-mail.
