Installing 2000 w/cdrw/dvd

I hope someone can help here. I bought a machine with no operating system
and am trying to put 2000 on it. Can't get cd support from boot disk and
none of the drivers I have found for it will work in dos. I have tried 2000
diskettes and as soon as I take the disc out and reboot, that's as far as it
goes, still no cd support. The company I bought the computer from is no help
and neither is the manufacturer of the cdrw/dvd, so for now I am stuck.

The Windows 2000 CD is itself bootable, if your system is properly configured to
look at the CD drive before the HDD during startup.

If your system can not do that, then you can start the setup routine with the 4
floppy disks defined in the MSKB article.

This following article has info regarding the installation techniques and steps
for a
clean install:

HOW TO: Install Windows 2000 Professional

If you prefer to startup in MSDOS with CD-ROM support, use a Win98 startup disc.
This can be obtained at http://www.bootdisk.com/

On machines that wouldn't boot from CD, and there aren't that many, I would
just use a windows98 boot disk, boot up with CDROM support and run setup
from there

I have tried that, once the setup starts and system reboots it won't read cd
from there???
