Installer runs during windows startup

Pete

I have two dialog boxes from Windows Installer showing during startup.
These dialog boxes are labelled "Windows Installer" and in the box it
says 'Preparing to Install'.

There is no program name mentioned. I get two of these during windows
start and both go away quickly.

How do I track down where these commands are coming from and where might
the startup commands be located? I have search through the usual places
for a startup command but have found nothing.

Thanks, Pete.

Pete,

Try looking at this Microsoft Knowlege Base article.

The Windows Installer Cleanup Utility has helped me fix similar problems in
the past. You also might want to get Hijack This and see what is starting up
when you start your system. Be careful, removing the wrong thin may cause you
problems. If you are not sure what something does try researching it on
www.google.com.

Good Luck, Hope this helps,

Thanks for the info on the Installer Cleanup utility; however it seems
to indicate that using this tool may require me to re-install most of my
programing.

Am I missing something here? Does this program just remove installer
info? Does It affect the 'Add and Remove Programs' Control Panel Aplet?

Any further clarification is appreciated.
