We recently got a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop, and upon receiving it, we
downloaded several Windows updates and updates to the Norton Internet
Security which came with the unit. Everything seemed to be going fine until
we installed the Sygate Personal Firewall. Now we cannot successfully
download any software (i.e. Ad-aware, Spybot, updates to Earthlink software),
but we can surf OK. Any software downloads abort after about 20% of the
download has been completed. We are not getting any error messages.

We disabled the Windows firewall and also the Norton firewall. Just the
Sygate firewall is running. I suspect we don't have the proper settings, but
I am clueless as to where to begin.

We have XP Pro.

Can someone help us out?

Thanks much.

And the Sysgate tech support people have said what?

Besides, the best firewall on the market is Zone Alarm.

Thanks to those who offered constructive advice. I uninstalled Norton, and I
think we are on the right track now.
