Installation without CD/DVD Drive

I have a genuine Windows XP Professional SP2 CD with me, but the system on
which I want to install Win XP doesn't have a CD Drive. The system already
has Windows 2000 Professional, I want to install Win XP over it. I copied the
contents of the Win XP CD to the hard disk of my computer using cross-wire
cable and connecting it to my laptop (which has a DVD Drive). The setup
started very well from the hard-disk, but then after first reboot during the
setup, it says something like "Setup cannot continue, could not find file
xxxxxxxx.dll" and the setup aborts. I searched on the Internet for a
solution, but everyone says that it is not possible to install Win XP without
a CD/DVD drive. Can you please help me out in the installation?
Thanks,
Vivek Gupta

Go to Microsoft website and you can download floppy disk installation
version of XP.

You could network the machines and "share" the CD drive on the laptop to be
useable on the desktop? Just access the CD drive in the laptop from the
PC - just like any other network drive - you'd have to "map" it through the
networking options.
Then it shows up in "My COmputer" as a networked drive.

What you are doing is likely going to work however the error message you are
seeing is most often related to faulty RAM or bad hard drive.
