Installation interrupted?

I have Windows XP SP2. I have tried several times to install the updated
version of windows defender(beta 2). I closed all open windows. I turned off
my McAfee. I ran it from a local directory. I am not getting any specific
error messages. It just keeps saying that the installation was interuppted.
Any suggestions?

Are you certain you are logged in as an administrator when installing? This
one can be difficult to troubleshoot.

If you are an administrator, I think the way to troubleshoot this is to turn
on .MSI installer logging, and post the installer log file or some portion
of it to this thread.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314852/

shows how to do this.

If you are running XP Professional, the group policy method is easier than
the registry edit method--but not all the details are spelled out in that
article--there's a box to enter logging parameters--and you should
substitute "voicewarmup" (without the quotes) for the letters in that box.

Once logging is enabled, retry the installation, and then look in the %temp%
folder for a log file beginning with MSI--and cut and paste the content of
that file back to this thread.

Once this problem is resolved, it is important to disable logging
again--otherwise many log files will build up over time.
