I'm installing XP home on a fresh hard drive.... in MSDos
i would presume. I keep getting the format drive option,
how do i get past this and actually install the operating
system!?! everything else seems to be fine, it just keeps
reformatting, booting up, doing the necessary checks and
stuff and reformatting again... im using NTFS if this
helps.

You boot from the CD and do a clean install.

Greetings --

Simply boot from the WinXP Installation CD. You'll be offered the
opportunity to delete, create, and format partitions as part of the
installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the order of boot
devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)
