Install/Program CD/DVDs will not Load

I use Windows XP Pro with all known updates. I have lots of room on my hard
drive and an internal CD/DVD reader and an internal CD/DVD burner.

New programs installed properly until recently. Suddenly install/program
disks are not recognized when I insert ithem in either drive. The disk will
not run when I select RUN and type in the correct drive. They also do not
run if I use Control Panel Add Software. New software will load if I go to
the CD/DVD drive and select the appropriate setup.exe.

Install/Program disks work properly on another PC.

HELP, Dean

Does a movie or music CD/DVD work? Can you access a data CD/DVD? If not, I
would not expect a program CD/DVD to work either. Test further and come back
with more information please.

I just inserted a movie DVD and it loaded and ran OK. As I can go to a
CD/DVD drive, review the contents, and start an installation by using the
proper setup.exe I assume I can read data.

Richard, thank you for your response. Dean
