Install Lexmark software

Cannot install Lexmark printer software goes through the following steps
"setup is updating your system", "setup is copying files", then "user
canceled" software closes no other response. That was after uninstalling and
installing from that point. When the printer and USB cable is disconnected
the window "Result No printer attached" appears "user canceled" error appears
software closes. The computer does recognizes the printer when I connect the
cable and have the cable connected, just cannot get through the whole process
of loading the software.
"user canceled" what is the cause.

First check if the accompanying software is compatible with XP, and then
check if the drivers in it are also compatible. At present you probably have
a partial install and must start all over. If this is a new printer, wrap
it back
up and take it back for credit towards the purchase of a HP, Canon or Epson.
