install hosed local IIS & can't uninstall

After installing the AntiSpyware, I lost access
http://localhost and
1) can't open inetmgr (does NOT run)
2) can't uninstall MS Spyware (unistall hangs)
3) can't use 'ADD Windows' components to remove &
reinstall IIS, it just hangs

That's ugly indeed.

The things I can think of to try are:

1) instead of an uninstall of Microsoft Antispyware, try a Change, Update
operation (via control panel, add or remove programs.)

2) if that fails, is it possible to do a new install over the current one,
or does it block that?

3) if neither of those options get you a working Microsoft Antispyware which
can be removed, there's the Windows Installer Cleanup app:

This should allow cleanup of Microsoft Antispyware's installer-related
entries. If that succeeds, I would do another install of Microsoft
Antispyware, test whether IIS is functional or not, and, if not, do an
Uninstall of Microsof Antispyware.
