Install Error 101

J

Jaidee

I installed the new beta version and when I click on the
desktop icon, I get this error msg:

Warning: Microsoft Windows AntiSpyware has encountered a
critical error (Error 101). Please restart Windows
AntiSpyware and run the program again. If you continue to
experience this problem, please uninstall the program and
install the most recent version of Windows AntiSpyware.
You can use Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel to
uninstall this version of Windows AntiSpyware.

Ok, Problems:

When I go to the Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel, I
get this error msg:

The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This
can occur if you are running Windows in safe mode, or if
the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact
your support personnel for assistance.

I am not in Safe Mode. I tried to log on in Safe Mode,
and couldn't do a thing.

I tried to restore to a previous time. I get this error
msg:

System Restore is not able to protect your computer.
Please restart your computer, and then run System Restore
again.

No Such Luck.

Also, I have no control with my taskbar. After installing
MASW and rebooting, my taskbar had a mind of it's own. I
couldn't get it to pop up (I hide it), and I had to re-
set it to where the quick launch buttons were available
and when I had a window open, it wasn't available in the
taskbar - so if I minimized, it was still running, but
had no way to open it again. Had to open task manager to
close out the programs.

So now, I can't use My preferred Browser & Email Program.
I can't install/uninstall any program because I
apparently have lost my Windows Installer. I can't
restore because my computer is not protected. Safe Mode
isn't working.

I was going to try to Repair XP but it's wanting a
password for Administrator. I never set a password &
can't bypass this.

Anyone out there have any information that could help me
get this program Off of my computer? Where can I go to
get Windows Installer fixed?

TIA
Jaidee

Please ensure that you are using MSAS while logged in under an account with
Administrator rights and which is the same account that installed MSAS in
the first place.

Is your hard disk full? Also, please ensure that you are trying to use

None of the problems that you have reported above with Windows are related
to MSAS in any way. Check that you have plenty of hard disk space free,
otherwise, clean up the hard disk by removing unwanted files.
Where can I go to get Windows Installer fixed?

Try the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility, a download from Microsoft.
