Install fails without obvious error

Hi,

For some reason the install on an XP SP3 machine fails on every attempt but
there doesn't appear to be a reason. I've downloaded and installed the latest
version of SQL Server as that seems to be a common theme, patched the
computer etc and it still fails. The error message is along the lines of
"Install failed, check the log xyz for more information".

I've checked the log but there's nothing obvious and it appears to have
installed:

Does anyone have any suggestions?

TIA

I also had a similar install problem, however the log did indicate a failed
install, but with not much in the way of what the problem was. In my case I
resolved it by uninstalling .NET 2 (I did not uninstall previous version,
..NET 1.1). This allowed BCM to first install its own .NET fixes and then
continue with a successful install.

Thanks, I thought you might have something there but sadly the same thing
happens again, the log claims to have installed the program but it doesn't
look like it has...

Any other suggestions?
