install error

When attempting to upgrade from Windows ME to WIndows XP,
I received an error message saying "An error ocurred
copying file setupldr.bin to C:\$WIN_NT$.~BT\setupldr.bin
The file is missing". When I purchased this computer
almost 2 years ago, it came pre-installed with Windows ME.
The retailer had a promotion of a free upgrade to Windows
XP with the purchase. I've been using ME for 2 years &
never tried to install the upgrade until now.

Beverly, is that a OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers) Version of
WinXP?
