inserting movie clips

I inserted my movie clip by going through the action
button option - this is the only way it would work - and
I want the movie to play automatically during the
slideshow. I tried to do what the help file said, but it
didn't work. Does anyone know how to do this?

Generally the easiest way to insert a movie is to go to INSERT >> MOVIE AND
SOUNDS >> MOVIE FROM FILE. It becomes an active element on the custom
animation pane/window (varies on which version of PPT) that can then be set
to occur automatically or onclick.

What version of PPT are you using?
What type of movie file are you inserting (mpeg, QuickTime, avi)?
