Insert window XP

I get messsage "Files that are required for Windows to
run properly have been replaced by unrecdognized
versions." "Insert your Windows XP cd." I have done this
several times and it has not corrected the problem. How
do I identify the unrecognized files and replace them?
Need help to fix this anoying problem?

Try choosing Start, run, and run SFC /SCANNOW
NOTE: You will need your Windows XP CD for this.

Also, your system could have a virus on it. I have seen this on my client's
XP PCs. The virus was affecting a Windows XP system file, XP was asking to
restore it. This occured at each boot up.

Check your system for any viruses.

If you have the Xp cd that was used to install the os
orignally and the cd key that goes with it, then do a
repair of the installlation. Boot off the cd. When you
are prompted to respond to install or repair choose
install ( yes install, if you choose repair at this point
it will go into the recovery console, we don't want
that.) Now, it will recognize the original installation
and ask if you want to repair it. Choose to repair. Now
it will go thru and look as if it is installing all over
again. Don't be scared, when it finishes all your files
and programs will be just where they were before and all
will right in the world again.
