Insert slides into new program loses background

When I insert slides from one presentation to another the background defaults
to the default background. Any solution to insert the slide with background
intact?
 
In that case, just select the little smart paste tag thing that pops up
immediately after you paste in the slides. Click the option for "keep source
formatting."
 
When you go to Insert > Slides from File, be sure to check the box that says
"Keep source formatting".
