Initial User/Password

I'm installing XP Pro and after the install finishes, it asks for user names.
I entered one user and hit "next."
Now I'm promted to select a user (the one I entered) and a password.
I wasn't prompted to enter a password when I created the user. What's the
password?
blank doesn't work. variants of p@ssw0rd also don't work. repeating the
user name in the password field doesn't work either.

Suggestions?
 
Must've been a bad install. Re-installation prompted me for everything that
I was missing.
 
I just encountered the same problem with a new notebook. Reboot the machine
and press F8 as it's starting to start in "SAFE" mode. Once you are in safe
mode you can login as the administrator, go to control panel, select
"Users", then you can delete the password of the user name you created.
Shutdown and restart normally.
