Incorrect Appointment Start Time/Date

One of our secretaries here has the weirdest problem I have seen with
Outlook, and I could do with some help.

Whatever day she selects in hers, or anyone else calendar, when she
clicks "New Appointment" the default start date & time, are the current
date and time, whilst the end date & time are correct (being the date
she selected).

This means she has to change the start date and time on every entry,
which she has been doing for months because she didn't realise this
wasn't how it should be.

I can't find any options or settings that would do this.

Also, and I suspect connected, when she views a group diary, every
appointment displays as a multi day appointment, for example, one
appointment, set for 8 hours on a single day, displayed as a bar for
several months prior to the appointment date on her display. Yet if you
double click the appointment, the start time and date are on the same
day.

I was wondering if it was using the date the appointment was created as
the start date, but why and how would I fix it? Anyone got any ideas
please?
