Andrew

hi there, i recently purchased a new laptop, which has Windows Live mail
installed. I tried to set up an account using hotmail, which i could not do
so i set up a live email address. each time i log on to my account i get the
following error message

the host SMTP could not be found. please verify that you have entered the
server correctly. I get the same message for the POP3 error message. so the
questions are as follows:

1. what are the live server addresses?
2. where do i go in and change them?

This groups is for Windows Mail, which cannot access any http email account.

However, you can use the newer Windows Live Mail to access your http
Live/Hotmail
accounts like you may have using Outlook Express on XP.

Or, you can use either Windows Mail or Windows Live Mail to access POP3 or
IMAP accounts.
MS recently added POP3 access to Hotmail/Live accounts from most countries.

Windows Mail's new account wizard is hard-coded to reject Hotmail addresses.
So, when you enter your email address initially, give it a fake one,
such as (e-mail address removed). After the account setup is complete, go back
and correct your email address.
