InCD [Nero]

Edward O'Brien

In the past I have always been able to copy, delete, remove or whatever
using InCD installed with Nero.

Suddenly, with no apparent reason, my system has reverted to the Windows XP
copying system which is all but useless. I can't delete or transfer out of
the CD-RW disc.

Does anyone know of a way to get rid of, or disable, the XP CD-RW system?

TIA

XP does not have native support for CD-RW. This is treated just like normal
CDr. You may have to re-install InCD to fix this.

What?? CD-RWs may be burned and erased using XP's native burning function.

Go to My Computer and right click on your Recorder's drive letter, and then
go to the "Recorder" Tab and in that window disable the option for "Enable
Recording on this Drive".

True - but XP treats it like a CDR. You can only write sessions to
the CDRW (not packet-write but master) and you can only erase the
entire CDRW (not just single files).

I appreciate this.... however, while I am aware of XP's limitations, and I
have tried reinstalling InCD, I can't get away from the XP app. It's like it
overrides InCD whatever I do. Is there a way to disable or remove XP's
rubbish application? :-(

Will disabling the service IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service work?

Right click my computer/manage/services and applications/service.

Hope this is useful

Thanks, Andy. Tried that and no luck.

The good news is - I went to Roxio [Nero] and they have an app'n that
enables/disenables the UDF reader. Apparently a conflict can occur with v.4
of InCD. It is easy to use so that is what did and it works fine.

Thanks everybody for your input.

Best wishes,

Ed

Go to My Computer - r-click the drive; Properties, recording page
uncheck 'Enable recording' to disable the inbuilt software. Then check
for an InCD page to re-enable that - I don't have it installed at
present so cant check for you

Thanks for this.... While I have fixed the problem - see my earlier
message - this nonetheless looks like a good thing to me. Being a registry
edit, however, I'm reluctant to go there without good cause so I am going to
file the info and use it if I get a recurrence. Incidentally, do you
suggest I uninstall InCD and Nero before editing?

To each their own. I would rather use XP's tools than the awful
guaranteed fail-when-you-really-need-it packet-writing method. InCD
seems especially flaky.
