I inadvertently erased a word doc by saving over pages 1-11; I must have
highlighted more than I inteneded to cut, subsequently saved the smaller
document. Cannot find the erased version anywhere - is there any hope of
finding and recovering it?

If you closed that document or don't have a backup, chances are you're out
of luck.

document has not been closed, but can't "back up" because it was saved.

If it is still open, you can still Undo. Click the arrow beside the Undo
list and select as many items as necessary to get back to where you started.
Word does not clear the Undo list when you save.

If the document were still open, you could use Undo, but it sounds as if you
have closed it, so, unless you have "Always create backup copy" enabled,
you're probably out of luck.
