In View....Toolbars....items are not highlighted

Toolbars have shown up at the top which I want to
remove. Instructions say to right click on toolbar and
click on Customize. There is no Customize and the names
of the toolbars are not highlighted. Then I clicked on
VIEW and again, no Customize and names of toolbars are
not highlighted. Anyone have any suggestions????
