In outlook, Is there a way to cancel a meeting, without deleting?

I have a meeting that I would like to cancel, but not delete from my
calendar.
In this case it is a recuring meeting with several invited to attend.
I want to show that it was scheduled, but cancelled for some reason.

I have a meeting that I would like to cancel, but not delete from my
calendar.
In this case it is a recuring meeting with several invited to attend.
I want to show that it was scheduled, but cancelled for some reason.

Cancelled, in Outlook, means removed from the calendar as well. Why not
just edit the subject of the meeting and insert "Cancelled: " in front of
it, then set "Show time as " to "free"?
