I just ran across this posting by Symantec (Norton), so if you have Norton installed I highly recommend that you read this prior to installing Windows XP SP2:

I agree don't follow symatec advice.

I did test it on xp sp2 rc2.
I using Norton 2003 version from system works pro.

I use the intelligent updater file. Download the file. Then install
the file. I never use live update with Norton’s The only thing
security center does not recognize Norton’s virus definition.

On First Install of Norton system works 2003.
Norton’s virus will not be detected at all until the virus definition
file is updated.
