Norton Anti Virus cutting support for previous Versions

Just wanted to be among the first to sound the alarm

According to Symantec's website Windows XP SP2 compatibility
and Norton Anti Virus software versions previous to the latest 2004 version,
will NOT be supported. There is a patch (called WMI) for Norton to make
compatible their software with SP2 .It was promised to users of Norton AV
products going back to the 2002 Version on the Symantec website

Recently the Website is showing this:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPOR...213?OpenDocument&tpre=&csm=no&src=con_web_nam

Clearly something has changed here. As recently as yesterday , this same
link
was showing versions 2003 and 2002 of the popular Norton Anti-Virus program

Looks like our subscription payments and recent purchases of Norton
AntiVirus
are NULL and VOID with respect to Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2)

Not looking to good for Symantec right now. I hope this is a website error

Installing Service Pack 2 will not affect Norton AntiVirus. The Windows
Security Center will be aware that you have Norton AntiVirus installed, but
it will not be able to determine its working status due to Symantec's
tamper-protection technology.
FWIW Symantec have stated that a "fix" will be out shortly for Versions 2002
& 2003

You might want to read this

NAV 2003 doesn't perform scheduled tasks, of course it's not a killer
problem (who wants updated definitions anyway right?).

Interesting page anyway.
