Greetiings,

I was wondering if it was possible to import my mail messages from my
outlook.pst file (from Outlook 98) into Windows Mail? So far I have been
unable to accomplish this.

Thanks in advance!

You cannot import into WinMail from a PST file unless Outlook is installed
and using that as its default.

The easiest war is to import into Outlook Express 5 or 6 on the old machine
and then follow the instructions here:

i am also trying too recover some old emails for my dad, i did a fresh
install on vista on his same machine that he was running OE 6 on, so i still
have the windows.old folder with everything in it, i am just not sure how too
import his old mail, his service provider does not keep any copies of these
unfortunately. so would i have to find a way too install OE 6 on vista just
too be able to import these messages?? i tried the message import but i dont
know where too find the files, it doesnt seem too pull them up under the OE 6
folder

Look in windows.old to see if you can find .dbx files (messages) and a .wab
(address book)
On my XP computer, they are in
"C:\Documents and Settings\David\Local Settings\Application
Data\Identities\{16F20AB5-A9A2-4231-8683-5BAA4260160C}\Microsoft\Outlook
Express"
and
"C:\Documents and Settings\David\Application Data\Microsoft\Address Book"

If you find them, copy them all to a temporary directory.
If you can't copy them, you may have a permissions problem.
If you can copy them, open WM and import them.

You can't install OE6 on Vista.

Hi, Dave.
If you find them, copy them all to a temporary directory.

And be sure to include Folders.dbx, which is the key to all the other .dbx
files.
