Cannot import Microsft Outlook PST file into Windows Mail

G

Guest

I have just setup a new Windows Vista laptop with Windows Mail. I am trying
to import my Outlook.PST files from another machine but when I attempt to use
the Import function in Windows Mail and specify Microsoft Outlook it says:-

Messages cannot be imported from the MAPI client

I do not have Outlook loaded on the new machine only the PST files from
Outlook

Anyone got any ideas??

Open Outlook on the other machine; export your .PST data to .csv format;
import the .csv file into WinMail.

You might have better results if you export from Outlook to Outlook Express
on the old machine, copy the OE .DBX files to the new machine and import
those with Windows Mail:

How do I back up my files and settings?

Alternatively, install Outlook on your Vista machine and connect it to your
..PST file. WM's import function will then work and you will no longer get
the error message.

You can install the trial version of Office 2007 on your Vista machine.
