Importing old Windows 2000 OE Files

Brent Trout

I am trying to import my OE Mail folders/files from my old Windows 2000 desk
top to my new Vista laptop. I first copy the old mail folders (.dbx files)
on my desk top to a flash drive.

Then plug the flash drive into my laptop and run Mail/File/Import Messages
Wizard but when the utility gets to the point of reading the files from the
flash drive, it doesn't detect them ,,,,, as if they are not in the correct
file format or something ,,,,,,, so is there a way to transfer old Windows
2000 Outlook Express files into Vista?? ,,,,,,, hope, hope,

Thanks,
Brent

Windows Mail can't import from an external drive. Copy the
flash drive files to an empty folder under your profile
(C:\Users\you\...)

You might try copying them off the flash drive to the laptop, then import
them.
When you import, and navigate to the folder containing the .dbx files, do
not open that folder.
If that fails, you may have to import them into OE6 first on an XP computer.
